Tshwane’s electricity tariffs have been formulated in accordance with the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act and Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act as well as guidelines established by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa.

The following charges will be payable:
Energy Charge (R.c/kWh)

1.1 DOMESTIC STANDARD SUPPLY SINGLE- AND THREE-PHASE: CONVENTIONAL AND PREPAID
With effect from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017
For a connection with a conventional meter, energy consumed per thirty day period since the previous meter reading is charged per month or part of a month. Prepaid energy purchases are charged per calendar month.
The energy tariff charge/kWh- inclusive of environmental levy of 5.5c/kWh is the following:
1 - 100 kWh 130.32c
101 - 400 kWh 152.50c
401 - 650 kWh 166.10c
>650 kWh 179.00c

Tshwane prepaid electricity tariffs are applicable for the amount purchased per month and not per token. If token are purchased in smaller denominations, then this will form part of an accumulative kWh purchase throughout the calendar month.

The scale will reset when the new calendar month begins.
